‘The Storyteller & Scribe’ was conceptualised after a chance encounter on a train, where Lydia, a designer and surrealist artist, met Winnie, a professional Tarot Reader. Friendship immediately sparked, as well as a shared passion for spirituality and storytelling.

Throughout the past 2 years, Lydia has researched and referenced Medieval art, inspiring her original surrealist tarot illustrations of vintage fashion, artifacts, landscapes and botanicals. Through this research and collaboration with Winnie, Lydia has aligned appropriate natural species with the thematic and character tropes depicted in the major and royal suites.

All original illustrations are created using traditional drawing techniques to capture the essence and illustration style of the Medieval era. Additionally, the surrealist subject matter of each tarot card uniquely resonates with the themes, experiences and stories shared amongst the contemporary world.
